Questions
I get the installation error: "Try again with sufficient rights" or "Install the application with an user account that has rights to install new software."
First download the installer to your desktop. Choose "save as" (check this image, in Dutch) when downloading, instead of execute / run! This step is neccessary for the following steps!
There are two cases when this error can be given.
You are logged in as administrator
If you get this error even when you are logged in as Administrator it means that UAC (Windows Vista / Windows 7 security) is in default modus. That will probably say you nothing and that's no problem because the only thing you have to do is: right click on the downloaded file (don't right click on the message, but on the downloaded WordfeudForPCvxx.exe!) and choose for the option: "Run as administrator" (check this image, in Dutch).
You are a standard user with no installation rights
You can use the steps as described above, chose "Run as Administrator". Fill in the administrator credentials and installation will work. As an alternative you can take the following steps
- Log out with the current user
- Login with an administrator account
- Download and install the software
- After installing logout, and login with the user account you normaly use.
- Start de downloaded file again, and now it will work.
Most times this means that you run multiple devices.
- Close al running devices and try again.
- If that doesn't help restart your computer and try again.
- If that doesn't fix it use the Reset button (since version 1.2) to reset your android device and try again.
- As final option, use this option only if you have version 1.4 of higher, close al running applications, and delete manually directory c:/users/yourusername/documents and settigs/.android. Start Wordfeud for PC with the shortcut and it will reinstall your device. De directory can be a bit different depending on your windows version / language.
I get an error "Emulator report: Failed to allocate memory"
This means that your computer have not enough free memory to start the application. Try closing al other running applications and start again. If that still results in the same error, your computer doesn't meet the hardware requirements. Since version 1.5 there is also the option to start with lower dan 512 MB memory, request support for the download link if you want to use it.
I'm administrator but the deinstall button is disabled
Close and re-open Wordfeud For PC with shortcut on your desktop. If that doesn't enable the button follow the instructions below.
If you have version 1.2 or before the only way is to temporary disable UAC (Google on "Turn of UAC").
If you have version 1.3 or higher right click on the shortcut and chose "Run as administrator".
The program doesn't fit to my screen
Use the "scale" option to scale the program. Change default setting "1" to "0.8" en start again.
Installation hangs on "Creating schorcut on desktop"
In some particular cases installation hangs on this part. This is fixed since version 1.4. Al existing users are mailed how to download this new version.
I can't find the Dutch dictionary
Default the "English" dictionary is selected, but you can select Dutch. But because of Dutch is at the top of the list of the dictionary pop-up, you have to scroll in that list to the top (this can be done by clicking and dragging).
When installing I get the message: Can't write to virtual device directory...
You are trying to (re)install Wordfeud For PC, but your virtual device is locked. To solve this, be sure that al other applications are closed. If that doesn't work, restart your computer and try installing again.
Norton reports the software as unsafe
Unfortunately Norton treats Wordfeud For PC as unsafe. We alreay submit a request for the Whitelist (17-01-2012). So in a few weeks this issue will be solved. For now you have to temporary disable Norton to become one of the hundreds satisfied users (see our Twitter stream).
How to remove the adds from Wordfeud
Download the latest version, 1.8, see question below.
Can I add a picture to my Wordfeud account
No, only if you can host your image on the internet. If that doesn't say you anything you have to do it without a custom avatar.
I lost my Wordfeud login credentials
Select Login, type your username of password, and select "send e-mail reminder".
Wordfeud gives connection errors and I'm connected to the internet
If you are behind a VPN or a proxy, in some particular cases Wordfeud can't connect to the Wordfeud server. It can be a temporay issue due to maintenance. If it's not temporary we can't fix it and if that's your issue, please contact support for refund and refer to this FAQ question.
Which languages are available?
English, French, Spanish, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian, and Danish dictionaries
I get the installation error:"Some files are missing"
Unfortunately in some very rare cases this error occurs. To continue installation, close the screen after this message. Next browse to your program files directory ("C:/program files"). Open the folder WordfeudForPCv16. There is a file WordfeudForPC. Double click it, and installation will continue.
